Neston High School
Having worked in Education for many years, we are used to photocopying a myriad of resources to teach our students literacy. A student’s journey from Phase 2 phonics to Year 6 SAT’s can differ greatly. These same challenges sadly continue as the students transition to secondary school. It is extremely alarming when we consider how many trees we have cut down over the years, in order to enhance our student’s literacy levels.
Finally, Literacy Gold is the answer to our prayers! This remarkable program encapsulates a summarised version of the fundamental steps for any student, to improve their phonological awareness, grammatical concepts, oral fluency, auditory discrimination, and visual perception. Furthermore, this amazing resource is computerised and offers a designated program of structured activities for all.
Literacy Gold is easy to navigate, and all the staff are very supportive, informative and professional. In addition, the after-care is faultless. After purchasing this program, you can opt for a demonstrational tour of the program via Teams or Zoom by one of their experts.
Due to the fact that the activities are usually twenty minutes in length, they are perfect for daily intervention sessions and are a manageable length of time in terms of student concentration.
Smiling faces greet us at the door, as the keen pupils are ready to engage with these fun activities. They especially feel ‘cool’ wearing the 3D glasses. To date, the students are fully engaged in these Literacy Gold sessions, and they beg to stay for longer than twenty minutes.
In summary, Literacy Gold comprises of hours of fun whilst learning for the pupils and it is an immense time–saving, all-encompassing literacy resource for us.
Individual pupil stories
Student A has attended our school for a number of years. Despite best efforts from numerous highly skilled professionals, this student has not engaged with the prospect of re-discovering phonics. He remained withdrawn and exuded very low levels of self-esteem. On a daily basis, Pupil A would struggle to sound out words phonetically and to accept the various forms of support available to him. When recalling his previous encounters with phonetics, we would see sheer fear in his eyes.
Miraculously, since being introduced to your revolutionary resource, Literacy Gold, he is outwardly more confident and self–aware. It is lovely to finally have an opportunity to communicate freely with this pupil and to see him assimilate into his lessons. This timid pupil now decodes and blends words he has taken from the classroom walls and even dreams of being an RAF pilot in the future.
It is breath-taking to witness such a positive transformation unfold which is greatly thanks to your impactful resource.
Student B is an EAL student. He moved here from another country a few years ago and was unable to speak one English word upon his arrival. He has already received a lot of support to assist him learn English but he has nevertheless remained distant and reticent to communicate with the majority of his peers and staff members.
Since using Literacy Gold, he has blossomed into a chatty, independent learner with a positive attitude towards learning and life. Student B is eager to progress further with his grammatical and phonological understanding. According to this student, the activities in Literacy Gold are fun and they make his English learning journey more manageable. He never misses a session, and his reading has greatly improved.
