This student had struggled all his school life with reading and spelling, his confidence was so low and he believed he would never read or be able to decode for spelling.

Initially both he and his parents were reluctant to believe a dyslexia program could help him, he had been helped previously in the past and mum especially was sceptical, that this could work.

The student was 15 when I started working with him, I only had a short while with him to boost his levels and confidence before leaving school.

He left with a reading age of 8.10, which is still low, but 1yr 4 months progress in less than a year, taking holidays into account, when he previously couldn’t access reading at all.

He was able to access simple chapter books, which he had never previously done and managed to read a whole story (the magic finger) before leaving here, his reading speed greatly improved form almost 0 to 79 words per minute and he was able to understand everything he had read. He left with a passion for reading and with confidence to know that although spelling may always be tricky for him, he can have a guess and use knowledge gained from the dyslexia program to inform his choices.

The dyslexia program was easy to use and plans for each student which makes an educator’s job so much easier, leaving me more time to spend with students. Having access at home is also beneficial, many of my parent/carers like to have an input at home so being able to log in and see progress at home is great.
